My favourite image from this shoot:
This image is my favourite one which I shot in the is shoot because I believe it clearly shows the "skin-head" and "punk" era of fashion of youth. The rebellious view of ripping your jeans and wearing shoes for fashion rather than industrial purposes. Another aspect of this image which I think has worked really well in showing my purpose of this shoot is that you cannot see the person who I am take the photo of, you can only see their clothes. I believe this was important in capturing youth fashion because the audience would be able to build a identity but also a label for this subject, even without seeing their face. For this image, I shot my subject in a range of different poses which is shown on my contact sheet, yet I believe this one has worked the best because it coneys rebellion much clearer. I got my subject to sit somewhere what is used for people to sit on, yet I got her to put her foot on it which some people may see this as disrespectful because someone else would have to sit their. Techniques wise I believe this image is quite simple, I included a close up of the trousers and shoes and used a very slight narrow depth of field so my subjects body was in focus and sharp, yet the background is less sharp and isn't as dominant. Furthermore, I believe the location of this image works really well because of the contrasting colours. The greens and dark reds of the plants and wall behind my subject help frame my subject due to it being dark clothing, making this the most dominant and eye pull aspect of the image.
My least favourite image from this shoot:
The main part of this image which I do not like is the lighting. I believe that is washes out and makes the shirt less dominant. The whole idea of this image was to capture an extreme close up in the style of the photographer Ali Seglins who is shown in my research log- where all you can see was a section of their clothing taking up the whole frame so that is all the audience have to build an identity of this person. Yet I believe it is quite a good close up in showing this, I believe the darkness of lack of lighting made it harder for me to manually focus it. Additionally, this is my least favourite image from this shoot because of the lack of sharpness; I aimed for everything in this image to be share and dominant so the audience aren't pulled to one individual aspect, yet I think the sharpness of the shirt is lost. Even though I like the symbolic aspect of this image due to the badges showing independence and rebellion, I believe it is my weakest image in this shoot.
